Welcome!  I hope this wiki will work for us better.

The purpose of this wiki is: To create research that extends our knowledge of the English Language Learner in the early childhood years.

Martha has asked our team to begin work on English Language Learner research.  When we meet in January we will be asked to share our work. Therefore, we must begin.  I have created this Wiki to enhance our collaboration.  We can share ideas on our own time and jumpstart the process before next semester.  I admit I have never wikied before.  They say it is easy!  We shall learn together.

The ideas our committe generated last fall are listed below.
Oral language development
Transferability of native to target language
Family issues
Issues around delivery formats
Delivery methods for pre-service
Policy issues that impact best practices
Translation issues between service groups--teachers, administrators, early childhood teachers, special ed personnel
Vocabulary development of Ell learners
Professional development of Ell teachers
Identify teachers who have Ell children
Impact of literature on vocabulary development
Identify doctoral students who would like to couple their research with our research
How does play based learning environment facilitate Ell?
Does a play based environment influence Ell faster or slower
What effect does the educational attainment of teachers have on the student.
Men--learning language and culture
How does the delivery format impact outcomes.

Martha and Stephen have already weighed in on the topics on the other site.  I will list their ideas below:

I like this one. How does play based learning environment facilitate ELLS--Stephen

I like that question as well. If we could test this out in Elaine Lambino's two-way immersion class in Greenville (L. P. Waters Elementary)...that might be a good start for answering this question?--Martha

Corsicana has a two way immersion program at Sam houston, Heard it is a great program.  Stephen

I did hear that...would love to visit it...maybe another site for research  Martha

Now--

Time for others to add.....
